#GROW Launches in Strathmore
/Originally known as a leadership and civic engagement program offered to high school freshmen and sophomores in Tulare County, #GROW is now making waves in the small town of Strathmore.
"Programs like #GROW are important to our community because they enable youth to take a hands-on approach to community development," said #GROW Facilitator Airolynn Salazar. "We are proud to announce that, while our goal for this cohort was to enroll 12 students, we have successfully enrolled 34 ambitious students."
This cohort meets bi-weekly on Wednesdays at Strathmore High School. Sessions cover a wide range of topics, including mental health, financial literacy, digital literacy, mentorship, social development, and community service. These topics provide the foundation for empowering our youth to actively participate in shaping their community. The Youth Workforce team is grateful for its partnership with Strathmore High School, and great support from the Pathways Linked Learning team at Porterville Unified School District.
