CSET searches for volunteers for the upcoming tax season

Tulare County's Community Services Employment Training is looking for volunteers to assist with its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

The program provides no-cost tax preparation and electronic filing services to Tulare County households with less than $54,000 annual income.

"With your assistance, local families in Tulare County will be informed about eligible cash-back tax credits," a press release from Community Services Employment Training reads. "Retired financial professionals, as well as adults and high school youth exploring careers in the finance industry, would serve as excellent volunteers."

For the 2022 tax season, approximately 200 volunteers will be needed to serve as IRS-certified tax preparers. The program is in high need of bilingual volunteers for this upcoming tax season.

In 2021, the program’s preparers helped file around 3,500 tax returns for low- and moderate-income residents – resulting in the return of more than $5.9 million to Tulare and Kings Counties, according to the press release.
