CSET Presents Martes de Salud - A Facebook Live Session for Tulare County Families About the Impact of Underage Substance Use

[Tulare County, CA ] - Community Services Employment Training (CSET) is pleased to announce its launch of Martes de Salud (Tuesday Health), a series of live online discussions about wellness topics and resources for families in Tulare County. In recognition of National Substance Abuse Prevention Month, CSET proudly invites local families to its first Martes de Salud session, featuring a virtual presentation about the dangers of underage drinking and marijuana use.

Underage drinking and drug use are common among young people in the United States. According to the 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 29% of high school students reported drinking alcohol while 14% engaged in binge drinking. Additionally, 4 in 10 high school students reported using marijuana in their lifetime, with 22% reporting use of marijuana within the past 30 days. The live, interactive sessions will provide families with information to recognize and prevent substance use in youth. The Martes de Salud will launch at 10 AM on October 19th (English session) and October 26th (Spanish session) through CSET’s Facebook Live (@cset.info).

CSET is dedicated to the development of safe and prosperous Tulare County communities where youth and families thrive. The Community Initiatives department offers a variety of programs and services to lift families out of poverty. Through a family strengthening approach, families gain access to nutrition and health education, housing and utility assistance, and employment training. More information about these services is available at www.cset.org/community-initiatives.
